How to Procure IT for a New Office in New Zealand
Opening or fitting out a new office? Here's a practical, vendor-neutral checklist for procuring the technology you'll need — and how to get it quoted and delivered in NZD.
1. Start with headcount and roles
Count desks and roles first. Each person typically needs a laptop or desktop, one or two monitors, a dock, and a headset. Add a few spares. Fee-earners and designers need more performance than reception or admin.
2. Network and internet
You'll need a router/firewall, a switch sized to your ports (with room to grow), and Wi-Fi access points for coverage. For an open-plan office, plan one access point per ~10-15 people.
3. Meeting rooms and AV
Each meeting room needs a display or video bar and a way to present. Standardise on one platform (Teams/Zoom) so every room works the same way.
4. Print, backup and power
A multifunction printer, a backup/NAS for shared files, and a UPS on critical gear. Cloud-first? You still want local backup and power protection.
5. Get one itemised quote
Send the full list to a supplier who can quote across brands in one go — comparable pricing, stock and lead times, delivered and staged to your fit-out. That's exactly what our procurement desk does.
Questions
How much should I budget for office IT per person?

Can I get it all from one supplier?
Yes — we quote devices, networking, AV, print and power in one itemised NZD quote and deliver it staged to your fit-out.
